Since Jeff has been with Hertz Farm Management, he has had many achievements. Jeff has appraised, managed, sold, and acquired rural properties for clients since 1986. Jeff worked out of the Mt. Vernon office from 1986 until moving to Waterloo in 1990 to become the office manager. He moved into the role of President of Hertz Farm Management in 2016.
Jeff belongs to several organizations, including: American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA), Farm Managers Advisory Board, and Waterloo and Cedar Falls Chambers of Commerce. In the past, Jeff has been the Chairman of the Awards and Scholarships Committee and the FFA Contest and Awards Committee for the Iowa Chapter of the ASFMRA. In 2000, Jeff received the Land Stewardship Award from the Iowa Chapter ASFMRA for his soil conservation efforts, and in 2009 received the National Farm Manager of the Year award.
Jeff grew up working on a grain and livestock farm in Northeast Iowa. From there he went on to become an animal caretaker on the Iowa State University Beef Training Farm from 1983-1986 while attending ISU. In 1984, Jeff was a research intern for Asgrow Seed Company. He worked as a data collector for the Iowa State University Economics Department in 1984-1986. Jeff is married and has three children and six grandchildren.
